The Chapel of St Mary Undercroft was completed in 1297 but was altered in the middle of the 14th century. Traditionally it was were the Court and the Royal Household would worship, while the Royal Family would worship in St Stephen's Chapel.
The Chapel survived the fire of 1834 but was badly damaged. It was heavily restored between 1860 and 1870 by Edward Barry.
