Description

The mural was painted by William Dyce around 1850-52 as one of a series of five based on the Legend of King Arthur. The original proposal had been for seven paintings but Dyce died before the last two were started.

The print is marked with a series of 'X' s and 'O's which according to the key recorded on the mount indicate areas where the painting is 'weak' (X) and 'discoloured' (O).
