The Railway Enthusiasts' Club of Farnborough, Hampshire, organised The Severn Boar Rail Tour of the Forest of Dean starting from Gloucester Central Station and taking in Cinderford, Coleford and Lydney. This photograph comes from the second of two tours that were run as the first was over subscribed. The tours used two GWR 0-6-0 Pannier Tank engines, numbers 1658 and 1664.
Coleford Station opened in 1879 and closed to passengers in 1924 but remained in use for goods traffic until 1967. A car park now occupies most of the site but a former goods shed was preserved as a museum since 1986.
