The Railway Enthusiasts' Club of Farnborough, Hampshire, organised The Severn Boar Rail Tour of the Forest of Dean starting from Gloucester Central Station and taking in Cinderford, Coleford and Lydney. This photograph comes from the second of two tours that were run as the first was over subscribed. The tours used two GWR 0-6-0 Pannier Tank engines, numbers 1658 and 1664.
Construction began on Cinderford Station in 1898 and opened for passenger services in 1900, these came to an end in 1958 but the station remained in use for goods traffic until 1967 when it finally closed and was demolished in 1968, a housing estate now occupies the site.
