Historic England Funds Regeneration Plan for Spring Bank in Hull
Historic England has awarded Hull City Council £11,900 to develop a regeneration plan for the Spring Bank area of the city.
Situated in west Hull, Spring Bank was the focus of expansion in the 19th century, which is reflected in its rows of Victorian houses and shop parades. The area is one of Hull’s 26 conservation areas in recognition of its special historic and architectural character.
Today, Spring Bank has a lively and multicultural community. A variety of businesses help to create a vibrant and diverse neighbourhood.
However, the street displays signs of neglect, and the area has a feeling of faded grandeur. Over time, Spring Bank has declined as market conditions have changed.
Historic England’s grant will contribute to creating a regeneration plan, which the council will develop in partnership with the local community.
The regeneration plan will guide future development in the area and will be shaped by a community vision created by local people.
We hope that this regeneration plan will be the first step in breathing new life into Spring Bank. By harnessing the area’s rich heritage and the vibrancy of the local community, it should pave the way for future prosperity in this part of the city.
Spring Bank is filled with rich history and a vibrant community, therefore I welcome Historic England’s plans to breathe new life into the area. This will complement well the hard work local councillors and community groups have put in to regenerate this part of the city.
