A selection of photographs taken from the air showing urban and rural landscapes and archaeological features. The earliest view dates from 1906 and was taken from a hot air balloon. Generally they are taken from inside an aeroplane. The photographer aims the camera out of the window to get an oblique (angled) view. The Aerofilms aerial photography company was founded in 1919.
