Workers housing, New Bolsover Colliery Village, Derbyshire
Bolsover Castle overlooks its new neighbour. Collieries needed to attract people to mining areas, and as a result several model communities were built. At Bolsover various types of houses were constructed as workers housing and an assortment of facilities provided. This also meant that the colliery owners control was felt in all areas of their workers' lives.
