Westminster Palace Hotel, Victoria Street, Westminster, Greater London

A group of women from the Canadian War Contingent Association packing socks at the Westminster Palace Hotel. They appear older and well dressed and are likely to be 'doing their bit' for the war effort by working as volunteers. The association was formed by Canadians in 'the old land' to provide a hospital for Canadian troops as well as to collect clothing and comforts for them. Cards were given to the soldiers to explain that the socks were 'extra comforts' provided by the association and not part of the governments provided rations.
