Watermill, Abbey Lane, Alvingham, Lincolnshire
There is known to have been a watermill on this site since 1155. The present watermill was built in 1782, by John Maddison. Water to turn the wheel was chanelled from the River Lud and culverted under the Louth Canal in a brick tunnel. All the machinery of 1782 was restored in 1972, along with the rest of the mill.
