St Margaret's Church, Uxbridge, Greater London

The parish church stands in Windsor street. St. Margaret's was built and in use by 1245. The oldest portion of the existing building is part of the north tower, which was built in the late 14th century. The north aisle, together with the nave and its arcades, dates from the early 15th century. The south aisle, with its fine hammer-beam roof, was added about 1450. A new Market Hall was built in 1788 right up against the church, behind it in this photograph. The church stands among shopping streets. There is a public water pump and horse trough near the corner of the church with what appears to be 3 baskets attached to the railings. These were probably used to put hay in for horses to eat.
