Regency Mill, Chester Road, Macclesfield, Cheshire

The Regency Mill was built circa 1823, one of seven 'pedimented mills' in Macclesfield. After a series of booms and slumps over the 19th century, the silk trade in Macclesfield eventually fell into decline. Some mills survived by specialising in certain aspects of the trade, while others branched out into other ventures (in this case, card manufacture).
