Ravenglass Roman Bath House, Ravenglass, Cumbria
These are the remains of a Roman bath house that was associated with a nearby Roman fort. The first known reference to it is in about 1610 when it is described as an old castle of the Pennington family. It was only thought to be Roman in 1876. This thought was confirmed by an excavation in 1881. These excavations showed that the building had originally been much bigger. The coins and pottery found date from the 2nd to the 4th century AD.
