Pump House, Market Place, Blandford Forum, Dorset

This Pump House was built against the churchyard wall. It is dated 1760 and built from Portland Stone. An inscription explains that it was put up by John Bastard in memory of the fire of 1731. It consists of a pedimented canopy supported on Roman Doric columns and is an example of the classical style. In 1897 a fountain was put in, in place of the pump.
