Miners Cottages, Mining Lane, Carsington, Derbyshire

This house was formerly a pair of lead miners cottages built in the 18th century. It was common in Derbyshire for owners of mines and mills to provide houses for their workers. This was a good thing but did mean that workers were very tied to their jobs as losing a job meant losing your home as well.
