Milestone, London Road, Slough
This milestone dates from the late 18th century when the road system was being developed. It is a simple white painted stone with black lettering giving the directions LONDON 19 to east: SLOUGH 1 to west: COLNBROOK 2. Milestones were vital for travellers in the days before maps were in general use.
