This view is taken looking towards William Brown Street. St George's Hall is on the left. The entrance to Lime Street Railway station lies behind the Macalpines shop. The station roof can be seen behind the London and North West Railway Hotel. The scale of the hotel gives an impression of the pride of the Victorian station builders. It also shows that they were confident that large numbers of people would be brought into the city by train and wish to stay. There was also a station cafe on the ground floor of the building. Horse drawn trams and a hansom cab (taxi) are waiting for passengers.
