Kedleston Hall, Kedleston, Derbyshire
Kedleston is a large country house, set in a landscaped park. It dates from 1758-65. It was designed by Robert Adam in a classical style based on Palladio's Villa Mocenigo. It was built by Sir Nathaniel Curzon, 1st Lord Scarsdale. He inherited Kedleston in 1758 and immediately knocked down the existing house to start again. The house, parkland and most of the contents were given to the National Trust in 1987.
