The Huskisson Monument in Saint James' Cemetery was put up in 1836. It was designed by J. Foster in a Greek Revival style. It originally held a statue of William Huskisson by John Gibson. Huskisson was a Tory M.P. for Liverpool and President of the Board of Trade. He was run over by a train and killed in 1830, at the opening of the Liverpool and Manchester Railway.
