Heiferlaw Tower, Denwick, Northumberland

This tower was built as a lookout tower for Alnwick Abbey. It has been dated to 1470-89 from the heraldry (coat of arms) on it. They match that of the Percy family. They are a pair of fetterlocks (handcuffs) within a crescent. This was the symbol used by the 4th Earl of Northumberland (1449- 1489).
