Former Number 3 Twist Mill, Hough Lane, Bolton, Greater Manchester

This cotton twist mill is dated 1887. It was originally part of a large cotton works/textile-working site. It was established by the Chadwicks after 1820 on a previously developed site. At its peak there were 5 mills and a bleaching and dyeing works, together with an associated planned community. The mills were devoted to smallwear weaving, sewing-cotton manufacture, twist bleaching and dyeing.
