Dovecot, Church of St Michael, Garway, Herefordshire

This round building is a 14th century dovecote. It was built by the Knights Hospitallers. It would have been used to keep doves (or pigeons) as a source of readily available food. It was built as part of the preceptory of Garway. The preceptory was founded between 1185-8 as the most important house of the Templars on the Welsh border.
