Coffins, Farleigh Hungerford Castle, Farleigh Hungerford, Somerset

View of the Chapel Crypt which contains human shaped lead coffins. The Chapel of St. Leonard was built in the mid 14th century. It was built as the parish church and was originally outside the castle's defences. There are eight adult sized coffins and two infants. The adult coffins vary in style, with some being clearly female. They are probably members of the Hungerford family and date mainly from the 17th century.
