Bomb Damaged House
Men sorting through the rubble of a bomb damaged house. Laing and Co was one of the firms involved in the rapid building of prefabricated homes after WW2. In 1944 Churchill announced a Temporary Housing Programme, known officially as the Emergency Factory Made or EFM housing programme. Bricks were in short supply and Laing developed a new version of its Easi Form concrete house. By 1951 the EFM housing programme had added one million council houses.
