From the air it is possible to see the circle created by the rear steps and 'fan carriage' as the windmill revolves. The blue sails of the fantail help to keep the mill facing into the wind at all times by turning the entire body, or 'buck', of the structure. It was built in the late 18th century and the internal machinery is complete and in working order. It is a particularly fine example of a post mill and an outstanding local landmark.
