Abingdon Abbey, Abingdon, Oxfordshire
Exterior view of the Long Gallery, a 15th or early 16th century timber and brick building. This Benedictine monastery was one of the most important monastic centres in England. In 1091 the church and the former monastic buildings were demolished and rebuilt. The abbey was suppressed in 1538. There is nothing left of the church, but other buildings such as this one, have survived
