Heritage Information Access Simplified (HIAS)

Heritage Information Access Simplified (HIAS) is a programme of interlinked projects designed to simplify and improve public access to heritage data held or generated by Historic England, by Local Authority Historic Environment Records and by other bodies.

HIAS projects

  • Data Transfer

A project to ensure that local Historic Environment Records get records relevant to them that were previously created by Historic England.

  • National Security Copy (NSC)

We will ensure that a secure copy of the complete national record exists to protect against data loss for future generations.

  • National Marine Heritage Record

We are currently developing the National Marine Heritage Record, a dynamic dataset for everyone to search for records on marine heritage.

  • Heritage Gateway Improvement

A project to develop a new and better Heritage Gateway to provide an online overview of England's historic environment.

  • OASIS V Reporting Tool

A project to improve a tool for uploading and accessing information and reports about investigations into the historic environment.

  • Heritage Reference Data Management System

We are developing a new Reference Data Management system to aid the dissemination of heritage reference data across the heritage sector.
