The Picturing Lockdown Collection was created during April and May 2020, in response to the Covid-19 pandemic. This group of five images, representing the North-West region, was created by the artist Tristan Poyser over the course of five days, to represent his experience of the lockdown. Alongside his submissions, the artist wrote the following to describe his creative approach to the project:
"Concepts: Real Family Time Temporary employment / working in lockdown Urban Nature retreats Community interactions, Good and bad!
The concepts I’ll work with revolve around the new enforced routine on myself as a self employed photographer and my family. My wife is on maternity leave, we have two children Amira almost 5 yrs old and Caspian 8 mths old. It will document exploring the limitations of lockdown to meet our mental and physical health needs of exercise and the outdoors and our financial needs. My temporary employment Working nights at an Amazon Fulfillment Center. I will also touch on the benefits, such as time together spent as a family, and more interactions with neighbours and the community. It’s also allowed me to start exploring the archive of Ron Cook. I came across his photographs of scouts from 1936-1958 in a house clearance 10 years ago, and only now have the time to give them the attention they deserve."
