Description

The Picturing Lockdown Collection was created during April and May 2020, in response to the Covid-19 pandemic. This group of six images, representing the North-East region, was created by the artist Aidan Moesby over the course of five days, to represent his experience of the lockdown. Alongside his submissions, the artist wrote the following to describe his creative approach to the project:

"Much of my work focuses on the relationship between climate change and mental health. I am interested in the relationships of these to the local and the global aspects of modern life, particularly pertinent at the time of Covid19. I make work to act as a catalyst for conversations which may initiate positive social change. Perhaps in this time of enforced isolation there is an opportunity to reflect on the changes we have needed to make which may be beneficial to maintain when restrictions ease. The images I create will be more of an artistic response to the situation of the current lockdown rather than direct documentary imagery."
