Volume: Picturing Lockdown Collection: Artists' Submissions - Scottee

Description

The Picturing Lockdown Collection was created during April and May 2020, in response to the Covid-19 pandemic. This group of five images, representing the East of England region, was created by the artist Scottee over the course of five days, to represent his experience of the lockdown. Alongside his submissions, the artist wrote the following to describe his creative approach to the project:

"Every Day is Like Sunday: Scottee is a self taught artist who lives and makes work in Southend on Sea, Essex. Across theatre, live art, public commissions, community activism and fine art Scottee's work is often about forcing difficult conversations for the greater good. His work is often centred around class, queerness, fatness and survival. For this commission with Historic England Scottee is documenting snap shots of the closed seaside town he lives in at the start of what is usually the busy summer season."
