An album containing 296 photographic prints and four postcards, documenting sites and events in Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, Staffordshire, Cheshire and Warwickshire, between circa 1940 and 1964. The photographer is unknown, but it seems likely that the images were compiled during holidays or travels around the country.
The images predominantly document parish churches, country houses, castles and other tourist sites such as Shakespeare's Birthplace and Anne Hathaway's Cottage. However there are also three sets of images documenting: the Well Dressing Ceremony in Tissington, Derbyshire in 1964; the Mystery Play at Coventry Cathedral in 1962; and the 9th World Scout Jamboree at Sutton Park, Sutton Coldfield in 1957. These images include many scenes showing people, and are of interest in documenting social history.
