Description

Construction of the M1 motorway from 1958 to 1960 and some coverage of completed stretches, including Newport Pagnell Filling Station. Includes views of cleared sites, bridges, culverts, road surface all under construction, as well as construction machinery in use. Official visits by Government Ministers and J M Laing executives are covered in some detail, including the inauguration ceremony. Also a few photographs of road signs. Very good aerial photography of motorway cutting its way through the countryside.
