Included within the 213 pages are 99 photographic prints, 1 photomechanical print and 33 sketch maps. Each of the maps shows a section of the course of the Thames and is illustrated with miniature photographs of the locality. In the frontispiece of the book are various advertisements for other publications by Taunt and also for his photographic firm of Henry W Taunt and Company. The last 44 pages of the book are made up of further advertisements for hotels, restaurants and various other businesses found within the localities covered in the book.
Many of the photographs used to illustrated the maps are duplicated within the HWT01/01 series of glass plate negatives and inkjet prints held by the National Monuments Record Centre and the Centre for Oxfordshire Studies. Where duplications exist between the series, cross references have been made.
