The Royal Commission on the Historical Monuments of England published a volume in 1930 entitled 'An Inventory of the Historical Monuments in London, Volume V, East London'. This volume covered the twelve London boroughs in the east of the city, from Hackney in the north to Camberwell and Lewisham in the south, and Woolwich in the east.
This set of material comprises handwritten notes with accompanying sketches and photographs, small and large format negatives, and measured drawings, that were created by the RCHME in the course of their investigations, and form an extensive resource for the study of historic buildings and monuments in the area.
Research material relating to one of a series of volumes produced by RCHME covering the archaeological and architectural monuments in England.
