Description
This series consists of 668 slides of foreign locations, taken by Ian Parsons. Countries represented include USA, France, India, Canada, Egypt, Turkey, Spain, Portugal and Australia, and the views primarily show railways and railway architecture.
55 slides of foreign locations were selected for scanning and cataloguing. 30 in USA, 10 in France, 5 in India, 2 in Egypt, 2 in Canada, 3 in Turkey, 1 in Spain, 1 in Portugal and 1 in Australia. 30 are colour 2½-inch square slides, 26 are 35mm colour transparencies.
Many show locations that cannot be identified more specifically than the country level, most are exterior views of railway stations or signal boxes, four are interior views. Others are of rolling stock on display at the National Railway Museum in Delhi, the Colorado Railroad Museum or at heritage railroads in Colorado, Arizona and New Mexico.
