- Series containing Photographic material
The series contains 103 black and white photographs and 1 colour photograph connected with the photography firm of Bedford Lemere and Co. Ltd. There are also two digital scans of the front and reverse of a print owned by Gary Winter.
Most of the prints are undated but the majority were taken in the 1950s and 1960s. These images, captured originally on 9" x 6" and 12" x 10" negatives reflect the type of architectural commission work that Bedford Lemere was producing at the time. They include a view of Bedford Lemere's premises at South Park Hill Road, Croydon.
Earlier items include glazed framed photographic portraits of Bedford Lemere and Walter Wood in the 1890s; a print showing Harry Bedford Lemere in about 1930; and an image of Trafalgar Square at the time of the Nelson Centenary Celebrations in 1905. There are two small format prints showing people packing glass negatives and a removal team and lorry in Strand, London during Bedford Lemere & Co.'s removal to Croydon in the 1940s.
Later copy prints, probably produced in the 1990s, depict Bedford Lemere's camera and Harry Bedford Lemere.
Two of the prints were acquired in 2015 and have been attributed to Bedford Lemere and Company.
A handlist of uncatalogued items is available.
This series of photographs was acquired by the NMR in 2002 and 2009.
