576 transparencies taken by the late Norman Barnard of Abingdon during the period 1954 - 1968 whilst touring England and Wales with his sister.
There is an emphasis on Cornwall and Devon. Coverage also includes Bedfordshire, Dorset, Gloucestershire, Hampshire, Northamptonshire, Oxfordshire, and Warwickshire. Coverage of Wales (43 transparencies) includes Tenby, Conwy Castle, Pembroke Castle, Saundersfoot, Snowdonia, and Portmeirion.
The photographs record mainly tourist locations, coastal views, attractions and events. Sites such as Brixham Harbour, Tapeley Park, Clovelly, Waddesdon Manor, Waterperry Gardens, Castle Ashby, and the Severn Wildlife Trust/Slimbridge Wetland Centre are included. Some sites were photographed on several occasions in different seasons and years. Events such as the 1957 Bath and West Show at Swindon, the 1958, 1959 and 1960 Farnborough Air Shows, and the 1961 Chelsea Flower Show are shown.
There are 4 boxes of slides (B-E) each containing a contents list. There is also a catalogue in Box 1: part 1 lists the sites alphabetically with image number and date taken; part 2 is the contents of each storage box.
