The Minitram was a proposed mass transit scheme, which during the 1970s was considered by the Transport and Road Research Laboratory as an option for an automated transport system. In 1974 the firm Robert Matthew Johnson-Marshall published a report on the feasibility of the scheme in Sheffield, to connect the shopping areas in the city. However in 1975 interest in the system was abandoned by the Minister for Transport. This mock-up photograph shows how the Minitram could have looked in Sheffield.
This is part of the Series: RMJ01/08 RMJM 35mm slides; within the Collection: RMJ01 Robert Matthew, Johnson-Marshall and Partners, English Collection (RMJM Collection)
