The plan shows the King's Pool, River Foss, the moat, the Mill Pool and part of the River Ouse. Annotated in pen to indicate a wall round the prison building, incorporating the Castle Gate and Great Gate (south bastion). Hachures indicating the motte and bank round the main castle complex are shown in pencil. The archive object is signed J.F.M.
