Description

The Southern Region division of Laing undertook the construction of Phase 2A at St George’s Hospital on behalf of the South West Thames Regional Health Authority between June 1984 and November 1988. The St James Wing was named in honour of the St James Hospital in Balham which had become part of the St George’s Group in 1980 and closed in 1988 with the opening of the extension at the Tooting site. It was demolished in 1992.

This image was catalogued as part of the Breaking New Ground Project in partnership with the John Laing Charitable Trust in 2019-20.
