Description

The washing houses at the RNCF removed residual acid added to glycerol in order to produce the explosive, nitroglycerine. The building is a lightweight, constructed of timber so that in the event of an explosion the damage caused by flying debri would be minimised. The earthen embankments surrounding the building were created in order to reduce blast damage to the adjacent site.
