Description

The collection comprises a single mounted ambrotype showing workmen outside the Prince Edward public house in Hackney.

An ambrotype is a 'positive' photographic image on glass which can be viewed because one side fo the glass plate is blackened. The image is black and white and the glass plate is housed in a gilt-edged frame.

The identity of the photographer is unknown but it was probably taken between about 1878 and 1881.
