The collection comprises 171 drawings of London formerly in the custody of the Government Art Collection. The drawings are primarily engravings and other forms of printing. There are a few pencil sketches, photographs and photomechanical prints. The drawings primarily show Somerset House in London but often include views in the immediate area including Strand, the Embankment and Waterloo Bridge. The images were produced between about 1700 and 1950. A handlist is available. The collection has been divided into five series by size to facilitate storage.
The collection was acquired by the Historic England Archive in 2019.
