Keep it London

It's London's big old heart that keeps our city alive. Help us keep it beating.

From 2016-2018, with London on the cusp of huge change, Historic England campaigned for that change to be right for the capital.

The city is home to some of the world's most treasured and unique places. Historic places like Soho, Shoreditch, Brixton and Bayswater give rise to the culture that makes our city.

We asked people to look at London afresh and really appreciate the amazing buildings, streets and character of their city. London is ever-changing and that's part of its identity. But change can be good or bad. Once special places are lost, they're gone forever.

The city must evolve by building on its unique character and identity, rather than by turning into a generic city.

We don’t want to be looking back in 20 years’ time and wondering where London’s magic has gone. We want everyone to help "Keep it London" – for London, its people and the future.
